A measure before Breckenridge voters in Tuesday’s municipal election would legalize possession of up to 1 ounce of marijuana along with bongs, pipes and other pot paraphernalia. Supporters of the measure say it would inch the whole state closer to full legalization. (via Huffington Post)

Bats are freaky, sexually.
Outside of humans and a few other primates, oral sex is a rare phenomenon. But researchers have found male fruit bats do enjoy a little oral stimulation, and that the reasons females offer it go beyond simple pleasure. (via iO9)

Geniuses and Idiots
Is it possible for someone to be extremely intelligent and creative in a certain field and at the same time, in other respects, to be simple minded? The answer is yes. Consider Isaac Newton. He was certainly a genius in the fields of mathematics and physics. On the other hand he devoted most of his life to studying the prophecies of the Bible, calculating the year in which God created the entire...

Take the peculiar case of an individual known as BW. As BW drove his car one day, the trees and buildings by the road began to speed by, as if he were driving at 300 kilometres per hour. BW eased up on the accelerator, but the cityscape continued to whizz by. Unable to cope with the speed of the world around him, BW stopped his car by the roadside. While BW perceived the world as having...

Oh, Becky.
[Glenn Beck’s] monologue, which was interrupted a few times by his tears, began with the wisdom that politicians can’t take us back to that simpler time; they can only take us farther away. It then devolved into a strange and extended analogy of America as a teenage kid who got dragged to a party he didn’t really want to go to, and where his friends poured beer on him, and that...

He is suspected of taking three planes from rural airports and crash-landing them. There were bare footprints inside and outside some hangars that had been broken into. In one, police said, footprints were on the wall _ indicating that the suspect put his feet up, apparently while eating. His mother said she doesn’t see anything wrong with what he’s suspected of doing. “I hope...
